Williamsburg Brooklyn Wedding at Night of Joy | Dom & Henry

TAP TO BE BROUGHT TO PHOTOS BELOW

Let me be clear – Night of Joy in Brooklyn NYC is not a wedding venue. But it definitely was when Dom & Henry married last September.

They had their first date at Night of Joy years ago and after a cross country move, a pandemic and growing together as individuals, they decided to have a sort of “homecoming” where they invited their closest friends and family back to celebrate.

Night of Joy is a lounge bar and rooftop with moody low lighting, antique decor and has this airy rooftop with plants growing up the chain-link fencing. It is located on a corner of Lorimer and Withers Street, with the sounds of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE) humming overhead. There is plenty of safe street parking nearby with accommodations sprinkled about in the area.

The Wedding Details

Dom & Henry’s guests filled the lounge with stylish outfits, intricate cocktails in hand and people hugging as Henry joined the ground. Dom and her sisters arrived florals in hand while the crowd made their way to the rooftop seats.

There were so many personal touches to their intimate celebration. Dom’s father helped arrange and place florals around the bar, the couple’s close friend DJ’ed, their mutual friend married them featuring a guest reading from Dom’s aunt. And the coolest element was the backdrop that was hand dyed by Henry’s sister using twigs and pieces of foliage from their childhood home. These elements of intimacy and personality made way for an eclectic, fresh take on the often run-of-the-mill wedding celebration that most people host.

Their ceremony ended with the breaking of the glass which is a traditional Jewish tradition to symbolize the inevitable difficulties that a marriage will endure.

Why Williamsburg?

Brooklyn Williamsburg is filled with cool book stores, bars, coffee shops, greenery and an overall more relaxed feel than some other boroughs of the city. Opting for a more intimate Williamsburg Brookyln wedding can allow for the feeling of slowing down and taking in the love and unique touches of your wedding day rather than rushing through to the next step in the day.

Other Cool Places for Intimate Weddings in Brooklyn

MyMoon – It has outdoor dining, a courtyard and 25ft ceilings (yes, please.) The deck offers a space that feels outdoors due to the glass walls and windows but is much cozier and private with a roof and wood floors.

Shell’s Loft – This place has a more industrial feel with so much available to customize like ceiling lighting and greenery and the possibility for one or two long communal tables for the dinner portion of the evening. There is also a cute outdoor space providing a private nook for guests to mingle.

The William Vale – This spot has an expansive rooftop overlooks the city skyline. The interior is bright with marble accents for an elevated feel.
