THE ADELPHI HOTEL WEDDING
THE ADELPHI HOTEL, SARATOGA SPRINGS NY:
a luxury venue with GORGEOUS light
When Emily and Matt reached out about their wedding at The Adelphi Hotel, I remember feeling so amped to be the one who gets to document their day. Firstly, they are just fun and you could tell they were going to have a PARTY – and that they did. But the venue – my goodness. This is what I have to say about it, but first:

It mixes old-school charm with modern luxury. Although it’s a historic hotel, it has been updated to feel fresh and upscale. The decor is classic and elegant, with grand chandeliers, beautiful architecture, and stylish touches throughout. It’s refined but not overly formal which makes it perfect for couples who want a wedding that feels both classy and comfortable.

The Adelphi Hotel is a historic hotel with a modern touch, so expect beautiful architecture, luxurious interiors, and so many photo worthy spots. Whether you’re attending a ceremony in the main ballroom or at the outdoor terrace, you’ll be surrounded by class and style.

The dress code: Most guests will wear formal or semi-formal attire, depending on the couple’s style. You won’t see people in jeans or casual outfits here, but the vibe is still relaxed enough that you can be comfortable. Think cocktail dresses for women, and suits or dress shirts for men—maybe even a jacket or tie if you’re feeling extra polished.

You really get the best of both worlds at the Adelphi Hotel: the glamour of a luxury venue with the relaxed vibe that makes it feel like a fun, party-like celebration. The hotel has these beautiful, classy spaces like the ballroom and terrace, but it doesn’t feel uptight or stuffy. You and your guests can enjoy a fancy, elegant event while still having the freedom to kick back and have fun, whether you’re sipping cocktails outside or dancing in the ballroom.

The hotel offers both indoor and outdoor spaces for your ceremony and reception. For indoor options, there’s the ballroom, which has a large, elegant space with a luxurious vibe, and the garden room, which is more intimate but still stylish. If you’re looking for outdoor space, there’s a courtyard and a terrace area where you can host a ceremony or cocktail hour with a more relaxed feel.

The hotel offers luxury rooms and suites, which is great if you or your guests are staying overnight. The rooms have a mix of modern comfort and historic flair, providing a relaxing atmosphere. It’s a nice touch for anyone who wants to make their wedding experience a full weekend getaway.

Best Photo Location (imho):
When you opt to get ready in the large double bridal suite that connects one suite to another through a set of sliding doors, you have access to the most gorgeous, vaulted ceiling outdoor terrace that overlooks the main street of Saratoga Springs. The room is Victorian, with vaulted ceilings, bright natural light and decorated in a classy, modern way with a fireplace, and gorgeous, stylish furnishings. The exterior has a beautiful brick facade with intricate details, including decorative cornices, arched windows, and charming wrought iron railings. For some extra clean, crisp portraits you may opt to take all of your photos on against the tall, white backdrop wall on the terrace. It is super spacious and allows for even light and a consistent backdrop that enhances all skin tones and color schemes for outfits.

The entire venue had beautiful lighting. I cannot emphasize enough how important and impactful good or bad light will have not only on a wedding experience, but on how the photos turn out. The ceremony space, which turned into their reception space, has ceiling windows that bring in so much needed light for being located in a hotel. You would never know you were nestled in a hotel because of the bright light the ceiling windows allow. And their outdoor space, which can fit a full sailcloth tent if desired, provides a cool, chic, city-like outdoor space that is cozy and private, but still outdoors and airy.

This venue is a good match for couples who love architecture and want an elevated wedding experience. The Adelphi is the spot for a more upscale experience. Adelphi’s architecture is a major draw, having an old-world charm with its Victorian-inspired design, but it’s been beautifully updated with all the modern touches you need for a luxurious event. You get the best of both worlds: timeless elegance paired with contemporary amenities. It’s sophisticated without feeling pretentious, which makes it a perfect setting for couples who want something grand but still welcoming.

Their ceremony took place in this bright, open ceiling room that brings in such perfect light for no matter what time of day you’re getting married. Although the space is indoors, it still has the light and feeling of being outside due to the open ceiling. Deryck of DDM Designs created the most lively and lush floral displays for the ceremony space. Hydrangeas are a classic New England choice, yes. But the way he tied them into these displays felt very fresh, playful and wild which brought contrast to the soothing, neutral tones of the room.

Their ceremony was officiated by the bride’s aunt, adding an emotional veil to the words shared between them. The room allowed for easy moving around for the sake of different angles for photos and was a breeze to shoot from a photographer’s perspective.

Their guests, including college friends and elderly family, gathered under the outside tent between the buildings of the hotel creating a nestled, private experience that makes you forget you are getting married at a hotel. The brick walls added a chic urban feel, while the rented sail cloth tent and greenery brought a warm, intimate experience for guests.

Their ceremony space was swiftly flipped to become their reception space during cocktail hour by the wonderful and fast acting staff of the hotel. This is not ideal, but with enough preparation and workers on hand this can work. And it was honestly worth it from a visual point of view – the room is just so bright, lined with mirrors and has that vaulted ceiling light that just brings a comforting feel that is often missing from lower ceiling ball rooms or rooms with a solid ceiling.

Their reception started off fullll of energy thanks to the live band, Young Love & The Thrills whose DJ skills hyped up the crowd while the live band and singers killed it with covers and performing songs. Introductions started the night with the bride’s dad getting extra cheers and rowdiness in the crowd before the bride and groom entered the room.

E+M created such a fun, open and indulgent experience for their guests with champagne toasts all throughout the day, a charcuterie-like station with catering staff carving a slab of cured pork live in front of guests at cocktail hour, a full blown dance session to open the dance floor and a party-outfit change at the end of the night. All while sipping champagne, sharing cocktails and hugging and kissing their guests all day and night long. They truly enjoyed themselves and their surrounding loved ones and it was felt all throughout the night.
