Romantic + Film-Inspired Crane Beach
Engagement Shoot, Ipswich, Ma//
Jess + Rory

If you have not already read my little post on why engagement shoots at the beach are the best kind of engagement shoots, immediately scroll through that soliloquy right now – or later… or truly whenever. Basically I just sum up my top reasons for loving photographing people in love at the beach. K. Moving on <3

Beaches just hold such significance to humans. It is a place of recreation, for one. A place where as children we felt free to run around barefooted, where as teenagers we were able to roam openly and freely awkwardly trying to engage with other teens in hopes of a romantic connection and where so many people of all ages and abilities flock in hopes for a little vacation from their regular lives.

But they are also where lovers go to love. To frolic alone, where your thoughts are drowned out by the constant roar of waves, or seagulls or the off-shore breeze. It is for this reason that many people get engaged at the beach – like cuties Jess + Rory!

They were engaged at Crane Beach where Rory had spent summers as a kid and decided this would be a lovely spot to be photographed for their engagement photos. I drove from Connecticut to this lovely shoreline town north of Boston to meet them at Crane Beach and capture their love – tanned skin and bare toes and all!

Engagements can feel uncomfortable at first. Actually, scratch that – *photoshoots* can feel uncomfortable at first. Like, when are you professionally photographed unless your actual career is being a model? Anything that you do maybe once or twice in your life is going to feel awkward. But I treat it like you two are there to help me with my portfolio – I give you tons of prompts, I adjust you with gentle guidance and keep things flowing so that we’re laughing, we’re hugging, we’re loving on each other and that’s it!

I met these two for sunset and we made our way down the long sandy beach before dipping into the water, swinging each other around before popping some champagne and taking in the views of kiddos running around, families packing up and old folks walking with their arms behind their backs. One quick outfit change later and we moved to the dunes for some giggling snuggles and aesthetic movement shots before calling it a night. What a freaking blast.

If you would love some Boston engagement photos or some engagement photos at a place special to you two, or at Crane Beach, I would love to be considered. Even if you have already had engagement photos and just want a shoot of you two together, let’s do it! There’s no rules. Remember that.
