LINEKIN BAY RESORT WEDDING

Jess and Rory had their wedding at Linekin Bay Resort in Boothbay Harbor, Maine and it really brought me back to the value of simple pleasures. The local food, the nature, the small downtown streets, the tiny bars and ocean energy in the air. My first time at Linekin Bay Resort was in 2022 to photograph a friend’s brother’s wedding (that you can view here) that really opened my eyes to the serious potential and attraction of a coastal Maine wedding that I already felt so so privileged to document. If you’re envisioning a wedding that combines the raw beauty of the Maine coastline with a cozy, intimate atmosphere, look no further than Linekin Bay Resort.

This stunning venue in Boothbay Habor, Maine offers everything you need for an unforgettable celebration, from its breathtaking landscapes to the charming, on-site accommodations for you and your guests. If you have envisioned yourself saying “I do” with Maine’s raw coast as your backdrop then, babe? Linekin Bay Resort is the spot.

Rugged Coastal Perfection

Coastal Maine is already so beautiful and reminiscent of the cragged coast of the PNW (haven’t been, not going to pretend, but I have seen the photos) that I can understand wanting to get married there. But Linekin Bay Resort just adds to it all – it sits on the edge of the picturesque Boothbay Harbor, offering couples the opportunity to exchange vows surrounded by the dramatic beauty of Maine’s rugged coastline. With its rocky shores, vast bay views, and lush forested areas, this location is ideal for couples looking to infuse their wedding day with the natural grandeur of the Maine coast. The coastline provides a perfect setting for landscape wedding portraits. Early October (when this wedding took place) is especially magical, with the crisp air and the vibrant hues of yellow and orange coloring the trees that line the venue.

For couples who want to make the most of their wedding portraits, the options are endless. The stunning, untamed landscapes of Linekin Bay offer countless photo opportunities—whether it’s a quiet moment with your partner on the property’s water line or a dramatic shot down the boat launch with the bay behind you, your wedding portraits will capture not just the beauty of the day but also the spirit of Maine’s wild, romantic coast.

A Relaxed, Cozy Weekend for You and Your Guests

One of the best parts about getting married at Linekin Bay Resort is the option for guests to stay right on-site. The resort features charming, rustic cabins that provide an immersive experience that allows you and your guests to really dial in to the party weekend. These cozy cabins offer a perfect escape for the newlyweds and their loved ones, with beautiful views of the bay and surrounding forest.

The cabins are the ideal place to wind down after the festivities, allowing you and your guests to enjoy the peaceful beauty of Maine, without the hassle of traveling to a distant hotel. The laid-back vibe of the resort makes it easy to relax, and the cabins create a comfortable, intimate space for guests to reconnect and enjoy the stunning natural surroundings.

Welcome Party and Relaxed Celebration

A welcome party at the resort is a great way to start the weekend. Unfortunately I had already booked a wedding the day before this wedding (now something I avoid) rendering me unavailable when the couple reached out asking for welcome dinner coverage. Otherwise – sign me up!! The staff at the resort are so laid back, yet on top of things and keep the whole weekend going along smoothly (shoutout to Melissa Nein, their Director of Sales who also acts as the day of coordinator, for her involvement and readiness to help at any moment!) The cozy cabins and plenty of outdoor space, the resort is ideal for a casual evening of drinks, food, and mingling. The relaxed vibe and picturesque surroundings set the tone for an unforgettable wedding weekend full of celebration and memories. This also allows your photographer to get acclimated to the space before documenting your full wedding.

The Perfect Ending to Your Wedding Weekend

Linekin Bay Resort isn’t just a wedding venue; it’s reminiscent of a camp getaway. From the cabins, the playful coastal energy, to the stunning landscapes, every aspect of the resort is designed to make your wedding day and the surrounding weekend unforgettable. Whether you’re saying your vows with the rugged coastline as your backdrop or enjoying time with friends and family in the resort’s peaceful cabins, Linekin Bay Resort offers a truly special experience.

Here are three great options for staying near the venue in Boothbay, Maine:

Smuggler’s Cove Inn – Located just a short distance from Boothbay Harbor and Linekin Bay Resort, Smuggler’s Cove Inn offers a cozy, affordable stay with clean rooms and a relaxed atmosphere. This is where I stayed my first time in the area and it ticked off the boxes for a cozy, classic New England stay – also their breakfast is delish. It’s perfect for guests looking for a no-fuss, comfortable option that’s close to both the wedding venue and local attractions.

Boothbay Harbor Inn – This charming inn offers budget-friendly accommodations right on the water with beautiful views of Boothbay Harbor and is where I stayed my second time in the area. And I loved it’s access to a bridge walkway that connects you to the cute and charming strip of restaurants and coffee shops. That walk is especially beautiful at night, with walking access to a nearby bar that felt very small, coastal town and full of local charm.

Harborside Hotel, Spa & Marina – located in Bar Harbor, less than a couple miles from Acadia National Park, is this all inclusive wedding venue along the shore offering a pool, a walkable surrounding neighborhood and a few options for your reception.

Nonantum Resort – on the coast of Maine in the town of Kennebunkport is this traditional, gorgeous wedding venue with sail cloth tent receptions and three restaurants on site and even offers boat tours.

Anchorage by the Sea – a premiere oceanside wedding venue in Ogunquit for all sizes offering gazebos, manicured grounds and ocean views.

Jess and Rory got the party going after everyone took part in the hora, opening the dance floor to the high energy dancing and loud music. The acoustics in the barn at Linekin is pretty great for acoustics as it has a second floor balcony, bouncing the sound off the ceiling and amplifying throughout the room.

What is kind of interesting about the set up of Linekin Bay Resort for weddings is although everything is all on site, there is a shift in energy when the wedding is invited to move from the dining/reception space into the barn for dances and getting the party going. It can take a few minutes, but that physical shift from one space to another allows for people to leave behind the table manners and engage in more informal conversation with dance music amplifying behind you. I really love that about the venue. That same room that is used for dancing has an outdoor wrap around deck, which makes for a perfect spot to take a break from the party to get some fresh air and converse in private. Again, very reminiscent of backyard parties or a classic summer house party.

We did opt for a second round of portraits around sunset which allowed for a more relaxed, looser vibe while we overheard the party up the hill. If you have a sunset on your wedding day and want some fun, romantic, playful portraits I would definitely take advantage.
