UPSTATE NEW YORK WINDHAM MANOR WEDDING

Emily and Justus started their Hudson Valley wedding weekend with a welcome party at a nearby restaurant – 70s themed baby! But you can click here to jump right to their wedding day!). It was the coolest ask to have their guests dress up in disco 70s attire (see below!), decorating the space with glitter and disco balls and everything 70s. Their wedding was demure, filled with love from both of their big families and ended with the most epic live band dance party I have seen. I love when bands play 90s/00s jams that the whole crowd can shout along to – and that’s what this night was all about. Windham Manor is a perfect upstate New York wedding venue. It always has the best team of wedding day coordinators and planners that keep everything on track, assure the vendors are treated well and keep their couples focused on having a good time. Although it is a rustic venue in regards to using a big open barn as their main repception space and the woods as their ceremony space, there is definitely a sense of elegance with the outdoor patio during cotkail hour and their available spaces for getting ready the morning of the wedding. I truly love this venue and highly recommend it to anyone looking to get away with their loved ones for a wedding weekend in New York.

Recommended Spaces for Welcome Dinner and Drinks:

Union & Post – Windham, NY: per the recommendation of a wedding planner group that works with the Manor regularly, they highly recommend here as they are great hosts and offer a full room block. They also team up with the Manor regularly which means reliability and consistency.

Chicken Run – Windham, NY: another recommendation from the same planner group based on their fun welcome party options

THEIR WEDDING:

Windham Manor in Windham, NY is a cool, secluded Hudson Valley wedding venue stretched across acres of land in upstate New York. It is less than a three hour drive from both NYC (straight up I-87) and central Connecticut and brings you into the heart of this mountain town full of hiking trails up Windham Mountain as well as skiing and snowboarding in the winter. Imagine being surrounded by the stunning Catskill Mountains, with lush forests, clear skies, and rolling hills that feels somewhat Sound-of-Music-y?? Maybe that’s a stretch. But it is beautiful. I have documented a couple weddings at this venue and although the lack of cell service made this modern millennial freak out for a minute while trying to find my Airbnb alone, it is worth the seclusion for a wedding celebration .Whether you’re tying the knot in the middle of vibrant fall foliage or the warm summer sun, the views are gorg.

The venue itself is like a blend of charming rustic vibes and cozy elegance. Think beautiful open fields and peaceful outdoor spots that make for epic photos. The vibe is relaxed and intimate—perfect for couples who want to escape the city and enjoy a chill, nature-filled wedding weekend with close friends and family.

And let’s not forget the perfect outdoor ceremony spots—whether it’s an open field or the perfectly lit forest ceremony space – it’s all about that Insta-worthy scenery. Plus, you get to enjoy all the best things about the Catskills: hiking, fresh air, and outdoor adventures with your crew before or after the big day.

Windham Manor is like your own little slice of serenity and adventure, where nature meets your dream wedding. It’s the kind of place where the mountains and the trees add this extra magic to your day.

Accommodations Recommendations

Although the space allows for the couple and some of your closest people (12 guest suites) to stay on site at The House (walking distance or a super short jaunt in a golf cart from the venue on site), these are some options for your partying guests to stay post-wedding.

  1. Albergo Allegria Hotel & Breakfast – 3.7 mile from the venue, highly recommended and offers rooms with kitchens/microwaves.

2. Hotel Vienna – only four miles from the venue and provides, complimentary breakfast and access to saunas + pool

3. Windham Mountain Club – 9 minute drive from venue – Ideal for guests who enjoy outdoor activities, especially in winter.

4. Airbnb, VRBO & Vacation Rentals – Plenty of private homes and cabins nearby for groups or families – I would just highly recommend checking in prior to the actual wedding so 1) you know where to go before losing any cell service at night and 2) to familiarize yourself with the route to and from before attempting the drive at night.

Emily and Justus had their outdoor cocktail hour right after the rain subsided, allowing their guests to cuddle up into their custom monogrammed blankets and cocktails. Kiddos and adults mingled, with hugs and kisses shared amongst all!

Their florals, by Sprig and Social, stood out so much. For anyone planning a Hudson Valley wedding, seriously check them outttt. The anthuriums popped in color and complemented the rustic, dark wood interior of the barn so well. Could not recommend their work more for a wedding. Still to this day, their displays and bouquet was one of the prettiest, yet boldest, that I’ve seen.

And boy, did they party! In that high-energy, happy, singing-along and dancing their butts off kind of way. Aka, the best way. They included the kids, performed the hora and even jumped on stage to sing to their guests on the dance floor.

If you are planning a wedding in the Hudson Valley, or anywhere in upstate New York, this venue is a great pick. It’s easily accessible from the city or any surrounding state, brings that mountain feel with the ethereal open-field and woodsy vibes all while bringing the best environment to party and dance all night long. Emily and Justus’s wedding will always hold a special place in my heart for their familial bonds and the love felt that whole day. I felt so honored being the one getting to capture it all <3
