Intimate Beach Elopement
at Sherwood Island State Park,
westport, Connecticut //
Dominique + Danny

An intimate, small ceremony followed by photos at one of Connecticut’s protected shoreline parks has to be one of the simplest and most beautiful ways to spend your micro-wedding surrounded by your tightest friends and family. Dom + Danny opted for Westport City Hall to officiate their marriage and Sherwood Island State Park in Westport, Connecticut to make some portraits.

After ten years together (something I have been seeing so much more lately compared to a few years and choosing marriage), Dominique + Danny decided to get married on her mother’s birthday due to her mother being unable to attend any larger, formal wedding due to an illness. Danny was especially emotional during the vows and Dominique could not stop smiling – it was so sweet and so genuine and true to the two of them.

Why Elope in Connecticut?

Eloping in Connecticut or having a small Connecticut wedding allows you to be really present with the people in attendance without that sense of performing or overwhelm that can happen with larger weddings and guest counts. In an area with plenty of wealth coupled with traditional Puritan values (whoops but like true) it can be easy to get sucked into the traditional ways of life without realizing you’re just following script vs following what’s true to you.

Eloping in Connecticut doesn’t mean you necessarily have to skip on the big party – because we loveeee a party, right? But, it does provide an option to secretly get married in privacy, bawling your eyes out while reading your vows and then plan a bigger party later on. Why not? It’s for you two, bb! Do what feels expressive of you two most – that is how you will avoid the dreaded feelings many people experience in planning their wedding and even attending their own wedding.

There are no “have-to’s” – just what makes sense for you two. Keep that in mind when deciding whether eloping or hosting a bigger party is what is appropriate for you.

It’s like, let’s just dress up, officiate our love, maybe bring some people along (maybe not!) and make it cute and hire a photographer. Yes, please!! If you are eloping in Connecticut and or having a small wedding in Connecticut or an intimate wedding in Connecticut, I would love to photograph it.
